Tips To Find a Great Brokerage to Join As A Mortgage Professional

Take charge of your career and don’t let getting hired be your ultimate end goal. Develop and define a crystal-clear career and financial goals for yourself before going out in search of a brokerage to associate with.
A good broker /brokerage will ask you of your business plan, goals and steps you intent to take to achieve them.

As a new agent, quick and precise advice will help you close more deals. Be sure you have access to right information quickly in case you get stuck while interviewing your clients.
Generally speaking, higher commission splits to newer agent means limited support and vice versa. It’s your job as a new agent to decide on which position you are comfortable with if you intend to excel your career as a mortgage professional in Ontario.

Instead of having a flat compensation package, inquire about performance based remuneration. Look for a mortgage brokerage that is willing to reward you for results.

Considerate mortgage brokerages offer extra bonuses and incentives when their agents hit sales targets despite the high commission splits upfront. A confident and seasoned salesman will always go with performance based compensation as they are aware of their skill set and capabilities in advance.

You are encouraged to jot down and understand all your skill set and how they will help you become a proficient mortgage agent.

Your commissions are collected and disbursed by your brokerage. Ensure all expenses and/or commission splits are documented properly. This will prevent commission disputes in the future and ensure a good long term working relationship.

Inquire and know your options about future personal growth potential for yourself. Will you be allowed to recruit/ build your own team within the same organization? How does a brokerage help you become a mortgage broker in future and much more?
